about
It is estimated that there are over 500,000 stray cats living on the streets of New York City. Mew York City: the Cat Overpopulation Crisis is a short documentary that features interviews with two different NYC-based cat rescues: TNR Utopia, based in Northeast Queens, and Itty Bitty City Kitties, based in Rockaway Beach, Queens. We follow TNR Utopia on a trapping project, and see Itty Bitty City Kitties’ home rescue setup for neonatal kitten care. By showing these two different sides of rescue, Mew York City highlights the work being done to combat the issue of cat overpopulation in New York City, as well as discusses how the general public and city government can support cat rescue.
